The EXPLORER class is our most advanced level of competition with more complex engineering challenges, missions, and robots.
The EXPLORER class is most appropriate for:
- High schools that have previously participated in a MATE competition.
- Community colleges and universities.
EXPLORER teams must demonstrate their vehicle at a regional event or via video submitted to MATE headquarters before advancing to the international competition.
The RANGER class is our intermediate level of competition. Aimed at middle and high schools, the robots and missions become more complex and technologically advanced. All missions are performed without looking in the pool, relying only on the sensors and cameras the team equipped their ROV with.
RANGER class is most appropriate for:
- Middle Schools with robotics experience
- High Schools
- Community Colleges and Universities new to robotics
RANGER teams participate in regional events, with the top 1-2 teams (depending on the number of participating schools) advancing to the international competition.
What is ROV Scout?
ROV scout is a competition for kids between 8-12 years old, aiming at teaching kids technology basics, creativity, teamwork and cooperation skills by helping them to design a simple robot which could dive underwater and do simple missions.
How can we teach a kid to design a robot?
We're helping the kids to design a robot through a kit which includes the robot components and using it in the competition, the kids are divided into teams with the same age and competing with each other on an Arab countries scale.
About the competition
After competiting in the Arab region the winning teams will be included in a unique adventure at Port of Long Beach, California and attend the final of the competition for Explorer class (University students).
SCOUT teams participate in regional competitions ONLY.
